Compare Hospitals for Quality and Cost† (replaces Healthcare AdvisorSM) –
Compare the quality and cost of care provided at hospitals for certain medical
conditions and procedures to help you make more informed choices about your health care.
Inpatient Hospital Safety Initiatives†
– Medical errors are more prevalent in
hospitals than you may realize. The Institute of Medicine reports that many of these
errors are preventable. In response to this problem, the Leapfrog Group has developed
four initiatives to help hospitals reduce preventable medical mistakes.

Serious Preventable Adverse
Health Care Events – The Plan does not pay for costs associated with 28
serious preventable adverse health care events, in line with the Commonwealth’s
commitment to patient safety. Learn more.
Physician Tiering (for non-Medicare members only) – Members in
our Basic, PLUS and Community Choice Plans have a lower office visit copay when they
use Tier 1 and Tier 2 physicians.

– This links to a web site that provides you with information on
practicing physicians licensed in Massachusetts. This independent site is maintained by
the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Medicine
and displays information drawn from their extensive database of licensed physicians. The search
page is easy to use and
provides information such as physicians' education, affiliations and recent malpractice history.
